In June, the number of tourists who visited Cyprus, increased by 14%
compared to last year, reaching 472 450 people. This is the largest number of guests that Cyprus has ever hosted in June.
It is noteworthy that the two main markets – the UK and Russia – show signs of saturation. The growth in the number of visitors was provided primarily by other, traditionally less important areas.
The number of tourists from Great Britain and Russia grew by only 1.2% (150 532 people) and by 2.1% (129 890 people) Accordingly. For comparison, 28 044 people came from Israel in June. – 89% more tourists than the year before. The number of guests from Sweden, Germany and Greece showed an increase of 25%, 93% and 9.8% respectively.
In the first six months of 2017, the tourist flow grew by 17% year-on-year to 1,463,206 people. The growth in the number of tourists from the UK amounted to 9.7%, from Russia – 11%. These two markets accounted for 32% and 28% of the total number of tourists in June and 35% and 23% – in the first half of this year, respectively.
